One of my favorite things to share here on the blog is my love of a good beauty bargain.  I love trying new products, and the best part about budget beauty buys is that testing new waters doesn't have to break the bank.  This, of course, is a plus when a beauty experiment doesn't quite go as planned.

About six months ago, I read a review of NYX's Lip Lingerie liquid lipsticks.  Around that same time, I found a great deal on the Lip Lingeries online.*  So I decided to give them a try!

*(I sadly can't remember exactly where, and even if I did, that deal is long gone; otherwise I would link it here!).

I ordered the colors Ruffle TrimExotic, and Beauty Mark.   As I was mostly interested in a dark lip for winter at the time, I tried Beauty Mark first.  Beauty Mark (on me) is a dramatic shade perfect for when I am going for an edgier, '90s kind of look.  I like it!

Exotic is more of a pinky mauve.  Initially, I thought it might be a great dupe for Kat Von D's liquid lipstick in Lolita.  However, when I held Lolita up next to Exotic, it was clear that they were too different.  Lolita has more of a brick red/orange undertone, while Exotic is decidedly more pinkish.  On me, Lolita gives a great fall/winter vibe, while Exotic is a bit lighter for spring.  I love them both!  Kat Von D's products are a bit more pricey than NYX's, but the Lip Lingerie formula is quite similar to the Kat Von D one in terms of staying power and wearability.  So, as a general product line, the Lip Lingeries are a great lower-cost alternative to the Kat Von D liquid lipsticks.

Lastly, Beauty Mark is a classic my-lips-but-better nude.  This is a color I would wear in an everyday, casual setting.  Overall, I am pleased with my experience using the NYX Lip Lingeries.  The formula is mostly consistent throughout all three shades (I did notice that Exotic and Ruffle Trim were slightly less drying than Beauty Mark), and the product applies beautifully.  10/10 would repurchase!

As with any liquid lipsticks, it is smart to use a lip scrub before applying to help curb the inevitable drying from the long-lasting formula.  This step is especially important if you have chronically flakey lips like I do

Have you tried NYX's Lip Lingeries?
If so, what has your experience with them been like?

  1. These colors are so pretty. I love Nyx too. This reminds me that I have to get more colors from there! I especially like the middle one. <3
